Post Storyboard Creative Process

Standard

During the storyboarding step we had technical difficulties and we were unable to access the power point mode of Google docs,so instead we had to draft the storyline in a regular document. During the storyboarding step scenes became more definite with actual settings and props. Ultimately, our original concept ended up working out, however upon some research we realized we weren’t going to be able to use some music we previously discussed because it was copyrighted. An element that we should eventually include in this project would be none copyrighted music that supports the scenes through the reality and fiction and helps show the contrast between the two. My ultimate vision for this project is that the flashbacks and split screens accurately depict the warning signs of abuse and bring to light some scenarios of abuse that may have been previously overlooked.  It is important that over the course of the narrative, Girl #2 in the relationship goes from being unaware/in denial of the abuse around her, to finally accepting what is going on and taking actions to remove herself from the relationship and abuse. Girl #1 plays a huge role in helping guide Girl #2 to this realization. My final vision hopes to bring the narrative full circle and point out all the warning signs of abuse.

Storyboard Direction

Standard

The creative direction we hope our storyboard takes is being able to depict an abusive relationship between a boy and girl dating by using the function of flashbacks and split screens to compare and contrast reality versus fiction. We will have the 2 main characters of a boy and girl, and then a second girl who addresses her concerns with her friend about the signs of abuse shes seen within their relationship. The second girl will attempt to draw upon past scenarios, using the flashbacks, and then compare and contrast what is actually happening to what the girl in the relationship thinks is happening using the split screens. This will be reflected in the storyboard using different images that draw on the past, present, and comparative factors of the relationship at hand. We hope that the story board depicts the message that while physical abuse may be present, individuals in an abusive relationship might not allows realize the seriousness of what is occurring because they are blinded by so many other things. The second girl is vital to the storyboard to point out all of the times her friend was being abused but failed to recognize the signs of abuse that were occurring.

Top 5 Midterm Blogs

Standard

Here is a ranking of my top 5 Favorite Midterm Blogs!

1. The Lazy College Girl Guide – This is my absolute FAVORITE blog. I was so interested in I even kept reading it after the assigned project. The layout is eyecatching, and the amount of pictures included is so helpful and fun to look at. I really like how because it is a blog directed at fashion, that the author included pictures of her own personal outfits. Not only did she include current runway fashions, but where you can find certain items and how to wear them. I like how she interacted with her audience and asked for opinions and included open ended questions in her blogging. Even the font of her headings is perfectly suited for her blog theme. Her blog is very full and complete, making it both easy to navigate as well as entertaining.

2. Intern’s Guide to PR and Event Planner – A fellow event planning blogger! This blog caught my eye because the title and focus was so similar to mine. Upon exploring the page I discovered that the author included a multitude of different topics, from recent events to appetizers, and even a website on public relations that will actually help me with my personal passion. Although the page was color and eye catching, it was clean and really easy to read and navigate. I was really impressed by the authors attention to detail and helpful tips, hints, and connections. With her interest in Public Relations, this blog seems perfect.

3. Psycollegy Girl– This blog’s title’s play on words is what initially caught my eye, but the blog in general is just really unique and interesting. I like the fact that instead of doing a typical healthy eating blog (like what I was first expecting), the author instead focused on writing about tips to make one feel healthier mentally AND physically. Every post was extremely informative and detailed with lots of pictures and videos. Instead of focusing on diet type foods, the author included different healthy alternatives and tips on how to make small lifestyle changes that will large results. Because of the her background in psychology and healthy living, the author was very well versed and educated in her blog.

4. Beauty, Fashion, Skincare, Oh My! – This blog uses a clean background which is refreshing, but the pictures are really colorful and edgy. The contrast between the two highlights the embedded photos and makes them the main focus. Because of her interest in journalism the layout resembles magazine articles and references a lot of fashion magazines and sites. It was really helpful how she hyperlinked to specific websites as well as bolded information. Her podcast on Galmour magazine was not only informative, but actually interesting to see how it is important for journalists to be well educated in the digital world of magazines and newspapers.

5. Do the New and Unfamiliar– While the other blogs I chose focused mostly on fashion, health, and beauty this blog caught my eye because of it’s different theme. I am all about trying news things, so I found it interesting that the author wanted to focus on this topic. The first post was a video on skydiving and hot air balloons which I thought was a perfect first entry. The background is colorful and eye catching, but the actual blogs are clean and visually appealing. The blog contains a link to a “What is This Blog?” page which introduces the reader to what the blog is exactly about. The different page buttons are very easy to find and the set up is user friendly.
